Fraudulent bank account or credit agreement application
  1. If you have not already done so, contact Royal Mail to check    whether there has been a redirection order on your address.

  2. Obtain a copy of your credit file to see whether this has been affected by any fraudulent activity.

  3. Identify any applications or organisations that you have no knowledge of. Return the credit file back to the Credit Agency with the items in question highlighted.

  4. Notify the bank or credit company that the application/transaction is fraudulent in writing with copies of the correspondence retained.

  5. You should then consider whether you should make a CIFAS referral which creates a referral procedure on all future applications for credit.
